Meteomagnetic station

Meteomagnetic station LEMI-017 was developed in Lviv Centre of Institute of Space Research of NASU and NSAU >>. The instrument is intended for continuous measurements of variations of the three components of the Earth's magnetic field and atmospheric pressure.

The station consists of a sensor unit and a control unit. Both units are placed in an underground enclosure with an active thermal stabilization system. The sensor unit contains three

race-track fluxgate sensors with a 40 mm long permalloy wound core. The sensors are placed into a cubic block of granite. Signals from the sensors are amplified with phase-sensitive amplifiers, filtered and digitized.

The control unit contains resistive strain gauge pressure sensor and auxiliary temperature sensor to control unit temperature. The digital data is transmitted serially to the control computer in the lab over a communication link and backed up to the flash memory of the control unit simultaneously. Time synchronization of the station is provided by a built-in GPS receiver.
